On the left is the skull of the largest known salamander alive today. To the left, the metoposaur skull, said to be millions of years old. Something was obviously different in the past. The metoposaur lived before the flood, when the environment was much more hospitable (not millions of years ago, by the way).
Peter the salamander. Peter is a spotted salamander, about 7″ long. Like all amphibians, Peter breathes at least partly through his skin.
Our fossil cast is said to date from the Eocene Epoch, some 15 million years ago. Notice that it is fully modern in appearance which means that the fossil record shows no evolutionary history for the bat’s amazing anatomical structure. To the right of our fossil bat is a copy of a recent Discover Magazine which featured an article on the amazing abilities of bats. According to the article the US government is spending millions of dollars trying to create a flying machine that can move the way a bat can. So far the greatest minds in aeronautical engineering haven’t come anywhere close. The fact that the bat’s design has these great minds stumped, along the fact that the fossils reveal no evolutionary history for the bat’s design, can only support the creation worldview.
Variation within the Dog Kind
Oftentimes evolutionists will misrepresent the creationist position by claiming that the Bible teaches God programmed animals to reproduce after their kinds with no variety whatever. This claim is false. According to Acts 17, God programmed our first human parents with enough genetic information to account for the variety in human beings we see today. God is interested in individuals, not duplicates!
Within the dog kind we see the same kind of unfolding of genetic potential. The first generation of dogs had medium length fur, but contained the information to produce a variety of puppies. Nature will select the most fit for survival, who will then pass their information on to the next generation. Notice that there is only a shuffling around and an editing of existing genetic information. Evolution requires brand new information be created, which is something that we’ve never observed.
The Grand Canyon: Monument to the Flood
Our scale model of the canyon includes all 5000+ feet of strata, from the Vishnu Schist of the granite gorge at the bottom of the canyon to the Kaibab limestone at the canyon’s rim. The question needs to be asked: What could have laid down these remarkably pure, flat layers, over such a broad area?
The Grand Canyon has many strange features that seem to defy uniformitarian explanation. For instance:
- How were its horizontal layers, remarkably pure, laid down?
- What caused hundreds of canyons to branch-off the main canyon?
- How did the Colorado River manage to slice through the Kaibab Plateau?
- What washed 1,000 feet of Mesozoic Rock from the region?
- The Colorado River has a only a tiny delta. Some 800 cubic miles of dirt was scoured out of the canyon. Where is it?
A catastrophe in which water first laid down sediments horizontally and then slashed through the unconsolidated “layer cake” is the best explanation. For a more thorough examination visit Dr. Walt Brown’s site www.creationscience.com.
A 400 ft thick, crossbedded sandstone situated near the rim of the Canyon. Notice the person at the bottom right of the picture for scale.
The Creation position has been challenged by the evolutionist community by positing that the Cocconino is actually the fossil remains of a dry sand dune. On this view, the Cocconino represents a desert environment that existed in the Colorado Plateau region millions of years ago. The creationist on the other hand believes that this layer was laid down by water during the year long flood of Noah’s day. Which view is correct?
Amphibian Tracks in the Cocconino Sandstone
The claim that the Cocconino represents the remains of a dry, desert environment is contradicted by the presence of amphibian tracks found within that layer. Notice the detailed claw marks that have been preserved. How could such fine detail have been preserved in a dry dune? It appears as though the Cocconino was laid down by water fairly quickly.
Some of the amphibian trails continue in one direction while the toes on the individual track point in another. These trails suddenly end, only to pick up again many feet away. The obvious conclusion to be drawn would be that the little animal was fighting against a current, which finally scooped him up and deposited him downstream.
These fossil clams were found near Lethbridge AB – a little ways from the ocean! Notice that they have been deposited on top of each other and all are in the closed position. Normally when these creatures die they open up and break into two pieces. It is obvious these guys were caught and buried quickly in some sort of flood event. Such fossils have been found near the top of Mt. Everest. Doesn’t this kind of thing fit the creation model well?
The fangs on this beast certainly make it look ferocious, and after sin and death entered the world it doubtless became a flesh eater, but what about its behavior before the fall? Why would a herbivore be equipped with such huge fangs?
Beside our saber toothed Tiger skull we have placed the skull of the Chinese water deer for comparison. This deer lives today and as you can see, also sports a pair of huge fangs, yet this creature is completely herbivorous. This is just another example of how impossible it is to tell what an animal’s diet was or is by looking at its teeth alone. Other examples of vegetarian creatures with carnivorous-looking teeth are the fruit bat and the panda bear. Yes, even a dinosaur with sharp teeth like the Albertosaurus was once a peaceful vegetarian!
Our cat Ruby has an insatiable taste for lettuce – despite her frightening fangs! In the “very good” world described in Genesis chapters 1 and 2, all the animals were peaceful vegetarians.
In order to get blood up into its head – some 17 feet in the air – the giraffe has been equipped with a powerful heart which measures more than 2 feet in length. This poses an interesting problem for the giraffe when he lowers his to get a drink. The pressure from that heart pushing blood “downhill” ought to rupture his brain.
Tablet 11 of the Gilgamesh Epic.
This 7th century BC tablet contains one of more than 270 flood stories from around the world. The anthropological evidence is clear. The earth has experienced a worldwide flood.
Our 7-foot model of Noah’s Ark. The ark’s dimensions and configuration indicate that it would have been maximally seaworthy and easily large enough for two of every kind of air-breathing, land-dwelling animal.
Our model has fantastic detail. Cut-away sides reveal animals—including dinosaurs—in their cages and members of Noah’s family hard at work.
Biology—the study of life—reveals nothing that compels acceptance of the evolution story. In fact, the more we learn about the incredible complexity of the cell, the less credible the evolution story becomes. Had Darwin known about the genetic code and the microscopic molecular machines that inhabit the cell, he never would have proposed such a preposterous idea!
DNA—coded information. The complex information storage and retrieval system within the cell defies naturalistic explanation. At the same time, there is a mechanism that we have observed to creation such systems, namely, intelligent design. These simple observations make intelligent design a bona fide scientific theory—despite the protestations of impassioned evolutionists.
An ichthyosaur fossil. These swimming reptiles (that look similar to dolphins) are said to have gone extinct 90 million years ago. These creatures have been found fossilized in massive graveyards, indicating large-scale watery catastrophe. Furthermore, some have been found with soft tissue still remaining, indicating that their deaths occurred far more recently than the evolution story demands.
